2005-05-09 - 10:31 a.m. The whole country was on holiday last week. My little household (otherwise known on my favorite Lord of the Rings role-playing site as the Orc Male and the two Hobbits), love them as I do, were in my face 24/7 and I almost exploded with frustration and the need to just get away. Stare at the computer screen. Sit in a cafe and have a cappucino while scribbling in my notebook. Read a book without being interrupted every five seconds. Watch a totally inappropriate video and drool over Orlando, Johnny, Alan, Hugh, or some other yummy piece of man candy. I love my kids, I am determined to be there for them, but I desperately need a teeny weeny bit of space and my resources are depleted right now so hallelujah, today is a bit of a break. I'll pick them up by 4 and I will be recharged. But really, I'm not complaining. We actually managed not to blow up at each other all week, or rather, we did but it fizzled out without escalating. At last, I am learning not to sweat the small stuff. In our case, at least, a teeny bit of absence definitely makes the heart grow fonder. I'll be glad to see him on Friday. And by the way, Happy Mothers' Day to me, a day late. Since no one else in this house said it, I say it to myself. No I'm not perfect, but I've come a long, long way.
